Scared to Death

“If there is any mood that characterizes current American culture, it is the mood of fear. The most powerful nation in the world runs on fear. We are scared literally to death because we have used our wealth to live lives that are lived to deny death. Being wealthy makes those who possess wealth stupid, and America is very wealthy. The people of the world have to know who we are, but we do not have to know anything about who they are. At least we do not have to know anything about the rest of the world except what we need to know to sell Coca-Cola.”
