Delta Blues

Over the past couple of weeks, my favorite book has been Ted Gioia's Delta Blues: The Life and Times of the Mississippi Masters Who Revolutionized American Music. Gioia is a first-rate music historian (and musician!) who has written extensively on the intricacies of jazz. But having been on a bit of a blues kick for the past couple of years, this one came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. I especially enjoyed being introduced to a couple of dazzling blues harmonica players whose music I've been savoring on Spotify: Little Walter and Sonny Boy Williamson II.
