A Community of Wounded Healers

“We must be, not as an extension of our basic discipleship but as its proper and natural expression, the wounded community that brings healing to the society around us; the community that feels the pain of the world, the depression and the worry and the anger and the exclusion and the hopelessness that are the daily lot of those around; and thus the community that, being itself healed by the wounded healer himself, can pass on that healing to its neighbours. By such means communities are changed, whether or not their members explicitly adopt Christianity. By such people God is honoured as his human creatures become more fully themselves, and as in a mystery the final triumph of God is anticipated.”
